Why is NC GreenPower administering this program for South Carolina rather than Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE)?

PaCE has asked NC GreenPower to be the third-party administrator for the Carbon Offset Program for three reasons:

1) PaCE is a young organization and is still developing its renewable energy program. Once developed, PaCE will revisit the need for a third-party administrator.

2) Carbon emissions are a national issue—thus using a third-party administrator to represent South Carolina and North Carolina with a preference for carbon emission reduction projects from South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia is more appropriate because of the regional focus.

3) A third-party administrator representing a larger area from which to draw contributions will increase the buying power of the administrator organization, with the possible result of being able to purchase more carbon offset credits for less money.
