Where does the money go?
Duke Energy uses 100 percent of the contributions made by Indiana customers to administer the program and support a landfill gas sequestration program through the Climate Action Reserve, a national offsets program that issues carbon offsets to verified emissions reduction projects. This monthly donation, in the amount of your choice, is added to your Duke Energy power bill.
As of April 30, 2010, Indiana customers purchased more than 300 carbon offsets, which balanced the impact of 158,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. That’s like not driving your car for 13 years.
