What are carbon offsets?

Carbon offsets are designed to mitigate the impact of energy use that can't be avoided or drawn from renewable sources.

Through the Carbon Offset Program, each carbon offset may be purchased for $4 per month, which will offset 1,000* pounds of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in North Carolina and South Carolina and 500 pounds of CO₂ in Indiana and Kentucky.

Participation in the Carbon Offset Program is an easy and inexpensive way to balance out the environmental consequences of our energy use.
